Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking a dedicated Dockworker to safely load and unload freight, operate forklifts and handheld tablets, and support warehouse operations. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and timely deliveries within a fast-paced service center.

You will work with a team to ensure proper loading, material handling, and adherence to DOT guidelines, contributing to reliable customer service and OD family culture.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent is required.
• Must have knowledge of safe and efficient lifting and transporting procedures.
• Familiar with freight movement documents and forms.
• Ability to operate a handheld tablet for yard management.
• Willingness to work varied shifts and timeframes.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using forklifts or manually per DOT guidelines.
• Transport personnel and freight throughout the service center.
• Monitor freight locations using the Yard Management System.
• Read and interpret shipping labels and forms for freight movement.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, or rope.
• Ensure quality loading and proper securing of all trailers.
