Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a dock/warehouse associate to move freight across the dock area and connect loads to trailers.

You will operate forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck, verify freight documentation, and secure freight inside trailers. Responsibilities include recouping damaged freight, completing reports, assisting customers with freight paperwork, and performing hostling as needed while following laws, regulations and company procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling or forklift experience preferred.
• If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week and lift dock plates up to ~100 pounds, and open trailer doors up to ~75 pounds of lift force repeatedly.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, and push/pull freight throughout shift.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.
• Operate forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck as needed.
• Verify documentation matches freight description using current system.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with all applicable laws/regulations and company policies.
