Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. in Utah seeks a dock/warehouse associate to transport freight between docks and trailers, using forklifts and manual equipment. You will verify freight docs, secure loads, and help customers with freight paperwork.

Applicants should have a high school diploma (preferred), be 18+, and have basic math and communication skills. Physical duties include heavy lifting; prior dock experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift experience preferred.
• If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week and open trailer doors requiring lift.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, pushing/pulling freight throughout shift.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate motorized and manual equipment including forklift, pallet jack and hand truck.
• Verify documentation matches freight description using current system.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies/procedures.
• Perform other duties as required.
