Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a dock worker to transport freight across dock areas to and from trailers, supporting loading and unloading operations. The role requires safe operation of forklifts and hand trucks, basic math, and accurate freight documentation.

You will verify documentation, secure freight inside trailers, assist customers, and perform hostling duties as needed, in a fast-paced warehouse environment in Ohio. Equal Opportunity Employer.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior experience in warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift operations preferred.
• If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, etc.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.
• Perform freight handling using equipment including forklift, pallet jack and hand truck.
• Verify documentation matches freight description (type, weight, hazardous materials).
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
