Job summary

FedEx Freight, a leading logistics provider, is hiring for a dock worker position in New York. The role involves transporting freight across the dock area to and from trailers for loading, with a starting pay of $21.16 per hour and a night shift from 9:00 PM to 5:30 AM.

Responsibilities include operating forklifts and other equipment, verifying shipment documents, securing freight in trailers, and assisting customers as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling or forklift experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and open trailer doors with up to 75 pounds of lift.
• Basic math and effective communication skills required.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck to move freight.
• Verify freight documents match description.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and documentation.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
