Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a warehouse/dock worker to transport freight across the dock and assist with loading and unloading from trailers. This role emphasizes safe handling, documentation verification, and equipment operation such as forklifts and pallet jacks.

You will work early shifts in a fast-paced environment, performing hostling duties when required, ensuring accuracy in paperwork and adherence to company policies, with room for growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing or freight handling experience preferred.
• Hostler/yard mule duties experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry freight weighing up to 100 pounds repeatedly.
• Able to lift dock plates weighing ~100 pounds; open trailer doors with ~75 pounds lift force.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, push/pull freight throughout shift.
• Work independently or as part of a team.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate freight handling equipment including forklift, pallet jack and hand truck.
• Verify freight documentation matches description using current system.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws/regulations and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
