Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. in Bonner Springs, KS is seeking a Dockworker to efficiently load and unload freight using forklifts, pallet jacks, and manual methods while following DOT guidelines. You will secure cargo, read labels, and help ensure on-time deliveries in a busy service center.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Knowledge of safe lifting and transporting procedures.
• Familiarity with freight movement forms such as shipping orders, manifests and freight bills.
• Ability to monitor shipment locations using yard management systems.
• Must be able to work varying shifts to meet customer schedules.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using a forklift, pallet jack or manually in compliance with DOT guidelines.
• Apply different loading techniques such as tight or cross loading.
• Transport personnel and freight around the service center.
• Monitor freight locations with the Dock Yard Management System.
• Read and interpret shipping labels and associated freight documents.
• Secure freight inside trailers using straps, airbags and other supplies.
• Ensure quality loading and safe handling of all trailers.
• Perform duties in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Other duties as assigned by supervision.
