Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Dockworker to safely load and unload freight, secure loads, and support warehouse operations. You will operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and manual handling methods while ensuring accurate and on-time deliveries.

The role requires attention to safety, ability to read labels, and familiarity with freight forms. A strong work ethic and teamwork are essential for success in our OD family culture.

Qualifications

• Must have working knowledge of safe lifting and transporting procedures.
• Must have knowledge of freight transportation procedures.
• Familiarity with loading techniques such as tight and cross loading.
• Able to use forms for freight movement (shipping orders, manifests, freight bills).
• Able to monitor shipment locations via yard management systems.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using forklift, pallet jack, or manually.
• Use loading techniques to ensure safe, efficient handling.
• Move throughout service center with freight on non-forgiving surfaces.
• Monitor freight locations using Yard Management System.
• Read shipping labels and complete freight movement forms.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, or rope.
• Ensure quality loading of all trailers.
• Work with service center personnel in a fast-paced environment.
