Dock & Door Technician - Wausau/DePere Areas

**$2,500 SIGN-ON BONUS AVAILABLE FOR QUALIFIED CANDIDATES**

Are you ready to join a dynamic team and play a crucial role in shaping the future of material handling? Whether you are a rising technician looking to secure a stable, high-paying career or a seasoned professional seeking true job autonomy, Wolter, Inc. provides the ideal environment. We are actively seeking Dock & Door Technicians to join our growing team in Wausau and DePere and the surrounding areas who want to take ownership of their day, run their own service route, and work for one of the fastest-growing, privately owned businesses in the material handling industry.

What we offer (The Wolter Advantage):

We do not just provide jobs, we invest heavily in our field staff to ensure long-term career satisfaction.

  • Premium Equipment: Take the wheel of a company-provided service van equipped with an iPad, corporate credit card, and company cell phone.
  • Financial Tool Support: Keep your equipment up to date with interest-free tool loans and comprehensive tool insurance.
  • Gear & Uniforms: Company-provided uniforms alongside clear subsidies for safety boots and safety prescription glasses.
  • Paid Training: Attend advanced service training classes on our clock to continuously upgrade your technical expertise.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Full medical, dental, and vision, a 401(k) with company match, short- and long-term disability, pet insurance, life insurance, and generous Paid Time Off (PTO) and paid holidays.

Opportunities for Both Rising and Seasoned Technicians

1. For the Rising Technician (1–3 Years of Experience)

If you have a solid mechanical foundation but are feeling stuck in a dead-end maintenance role, we will help you scale your skills in a high-demand, recession-proof trade.

  • Advanced Technical Mastery: Learn to diagnose complex mechanical, hydraulic, air, and electrical issues under the Wolter name.
  • Modern Workflow: Ditch the paper clipboards. Use your company iPad to log jobs and track your day cleanly straight from the field.
  • A Clear Upward Path: Grow within a highly diverse organization that has been leading the industrial productivity sector since 1962.

2. For the Seasoned Professional (Experienced Installer / Tech)

You know the blueprints, you know the electrical schematics, and you can hang an overhead door or secure a truck restraint flawlessly. You do not need a babysitter—you need professional freedom.

  • Ultimate Autonomy: Manage your assigned territory, coordinate efficiently with dispatch, and run your route with complete independence.
  • Zero Unnecessary Bureaucracy: Complete your digital paperwork directly on-site and move to the next job. No wasting time heading back to an office just to check a box.
  • Be the Local Expert: Build direct relationships with facilities managers and collaborate with our territory sales reps to capture organic business opportunities.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, repair, and maintain loading dock systems, dock levelers, seals, shelters, truck restraints, and commercial overhead doors.
  • Troubleshoot on the fly across diverse hydraulic, air, mechanical, and electrical configurations.
  • Execute preventative maintenance schedules for high-volume local distribution hubs and logistics centers.
  • Respond to emergency repair calls as needed.
  • Attend service training classes offered to maintain knowledge on new products, or for refreshers on products not encountered too often.
  • Maintain complete safety compliance by utilizing required Personal Protective Equipment (hard hat, steel-toes, safety glasses) at all times.
  • Log daily work accurately: Complete maintenance reports with customer signatures on your device before leaving the site. Maintain accurate service and inspection records.
  • Communicate with dispatcher and/or service office as to status of jobs and availability for new jobs.
  • Maintain an organized service van.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with territory sales representatives to keep them informed of sales opportunities you might see.

Essential skills and experience:

  • 1 to 3 years of experience servicing dock equipment, industrial maintenance, or a highly related mechanical field.
  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record (required to operate the company service van).
  • Ownership of standard hand and power tools necessary to perform daily field repairs.
  • Certification to operate material handling equipment (or the ability to successfully complete training).
  • Technical training or certifications in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance are highly preferred.
  • Commitment to company vision and mission.

Physical demands: Employee lifts and carries in excess of 75 pounds on a very occasional basis, 25-50 pounds occasionally, and up to 25 pounds frequently, work in varying climate conditions (warehouse interiors and outdoor environments), and stand, kneel, or crawl to access equipment.
