Job summary

Welch Equipment Company is seeking technicians to safely maintain and service warehouse equipment, including dock doors, dock equipment, and entry doors. The role is full-time, Monday–Friday, with overtime opportunities.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of dock/overhead door experience, plus welding and basic diagnostics skills. We offer STD, LTD and life insurance, paid sick leave and PTO, and a 401(k) match.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year of commercial dock/overhead door experience preferred.
  • Ability to safely drive a company vehicle.
  • MIG/ARC welding experience preferred.
  • Basic electrical and mechanical diagnostics & troubleshooting.
  • Computer/tablet proficiency to maintain inventory and work orders.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders up to 20 ft, and work in varied positions.
  • Physical stamina to sit, stand, bend, kneel and crawl as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Read schematics/blueprints to diagnose and repair equipment.
  • Perform on-site field repairs and maintenance of dock doors and related gear.
  • Service, repair, install and maintain commercial dock doors, dock equipment, high speed doors and entry doors.
  • Design, fabricate and weld warehouse aftermarket product lines.
  • Maintain EODs, dock levelers, restraints, lifts, seals and shelters as required.
  • Align and fit components at each job site with safety in mind.
  • Maintain a constant state of alertness and safe work practices.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

About this role:

The person in this role will be responsible for safely and effectively maintaining and servicing numerous types of warehouse equipment and systems to include but not limited to commercial dock doors, dock equipment and commercial entry doors.

Job Type and Schedule : Full time , M-F 8-hour shift with overtime available

Responsibilities
  • Read schematics, diagrams, blueprints in order to perform diagnostic and repairs
  • Perform on-site repairs in the field as needed as well as overhead door and dock equipment maintenance if requested
  • Service, repair, install and perform maintenance requests on commercial dock doors, dock equipment, high speed rolling doors, and commercial entry doors
  • Design, fabricate and weld warehouse aftermarket product line
  • Perform maintenance and install EOD’s, dock levelers, vehicle restraints, scissor lifts, dock seals and shelters, freight lifts and others as required
  • Adjust, lay-out, position, align and fit components required at each job site
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
  • Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications, Education, and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Minimum of 1 year of commercial dock and overhead door experience preferred
  • Ability to safely and effectively drive a company vehicle
  • Proficient fitting and welding from shop blueprints
  • MIG and ARC welding experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical diagnostics and troubleshooting
  • Basic math skills involving measurements and installations
  • Computer and tablet proficient to maintain inventory and work orders
  • Customer Service and communication skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to lift up-to 50 lbs. Ability to continuously lift and bend, climb ladders up to 20’ in height, work on knees for extended periods of time, and proficient operating power tools
  • Able to sit, stand, push, pull, stoop, bend, kneel crouch, reach, climb, or crawl on a freque n t basis
