Job summary

Cities, Inc. in Lake Park, FL is seeking a Dock Attendant to support the Lake Park Harbor Marina under the supervision of the Marina Director and Dockmaster.

You will perform routine maintenance, assist in docking boats, and ensure dockage and boat ramp fees are collected and recorded daily. Responsibilities include operating Dockwa for reservations and revenues, providing excellent customer service, maintaining inventory in the ship store, and helping program fuel and dockage rates.

Qualifications

  • Requires HS diploma or equivalent and 1 year related experience.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License required.
  • Knowledge of marina software and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Dockwa for reservations, POS, contracts, arrivals, departures, and revenue reconciliation.
  • Collect dockage and boat ramp fees; issue permits and maintain records.
  • Assist docking boats; maintain inventory in ship store and assist with supplies.
  • Perform marina maintenance and cleaning per OSHA regulations.
  • Program fuel and dockage rates; check restrooms and complete work orders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Marina Director and/or Dockmaster, the position of Dock Attendant performs required marina-related work in the operation of the Lake Park Harbor Marina. This position performs minor repair work and maintenance-related tasks on Marina property, assists in providing safe and pleasant conditions for Marina visitors, and ensures that dockage and boat ramp fees are collected and accounted for on a daily basis.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Operate the Marina Dockwa software program for vessel reservations, point of sale transactions, billing, contracts, arrivals, departures, and daily reconciliation of revenues.
  • Provide excellent customer service while collecting boat ramp and dockage fees, issuing docking and parking permits for the boat ramp, and maintaining related records.
  • Check boat arrivals daily for inventory purposes and to ensure that they are secure and in proper conditions.
  • Assists with docking boats.
  • Maintain inventory in ship store and boat ramp office and reorder any merchandise, bait, or supplies as needed.
  • Operate a boat for clean-up of litter and debris throughout the Marina harbor and for other assigned maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Perform general maintenance and cleaning of marinas, docks, and facilities in accordance with environmental and OSHA regulations such as pressure washing, dispensing fuel, trash removal, minor equipment repair, and cleaning restrooms
  • Assist the Marina Director and/or Dockmaster in the general operation of the Marina office including tasks such as programming fuel and dockage rates, filling out work orders, stocking supplies for the cleaning service, and checking restrooms.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of one (1) year of related experience
Special Qualifications:
  • Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of working with Dockmaster software, P.O.S software, Payware (Passport Parking App) software, Worldpay and Outlook software emails and Pneumcator TMS 3000 fuel reading.
  • Knowledge of LOA: Length, Beam, Draft in placing vessels in proper berth.
  • Knowledge type of Hulls and Engines, drives outboard, inboard, stern drive.
  • Knowledge of nautical terms Starboard, Port, Bow, and Stern in addition cleat line in berth slips and fuel docks.
  • Your ability to tie dock lines in high winds and high currents consult your tide tables.
  • Knowledge of plugging in shore power 30 and 50 amps properly to outlets and knowing to turn on and off in electric box.
  • Knowledge of using VHF Marina Radio communication with customers.
  • Knowledge of computers including Microsoft Outlook
  • Knowledge of marina facilities
  • Knowledge of security and safety precautions
  • Knowledge of motor boat operation, docking, and casting off
  • Knowledge of the rules and regulations of docking facilities
  • Ability to maintain simple records
  • Ability to perform general maintenance and repair tasks
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public
  • Ability to swim
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work requires lifting or carrying moderately heavy items (20-50 pounds) items as well as operating vehicles and shop equipment. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pushing, pulling, reaching, repetitive action, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed primarily outdoors on the dock. Tasks may require frequent exposure to adverse environment conditions.
