Job summary

Oregon Department of Transportation’s Driver and Motor Vehicles Division seeks a Transportation Services Representative 1 in Ontario. You will assist the public with driver licenses, vehicle registrations, permits, and license plates, and administer knowledge and vision tests according to laws and regulations.

The role emphasizes accurate fee collection, regulatory guidance, and behind-the-wheel testing, with training provided to apply vehicle laws and agency policies.

Qualifications

• Two years of public contact/customer service experience which involved dealing with the public in person or by phone providing information about services/programs or explaining and/or applying rules, regulations and procedures.
• Experience or training using computers to retrieve and input data.
• Three months experience collecting money and making change.
• Completion of an associate’s degree will substitute for one year of the public contact experience.
• Special qualifications: Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid US driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.

Job Description:

Transportation Services Representative 1 – Oregon Department of Transportation – Driver and Motor Vehicles Division (DMV) – Field Services Group / East Region – Ontario

The role:

Bring your customer service skills to the Ontario DMV as a transportation services representative. In this role, you will assist the public with obtaining a driver license, registering vehicles and issuing permits and license plates. In addition, you will administer knowledge and vision tests to potential drivers, ensure correct fees are collected, provide information about regulations and policies and administer behind-the-wheel drive tests. We provide the training you need to make decisions using vehicle laws, agency policies and regulations.

The majority of the work performed by the person in this position will be performed in the Eastern Oregon Border Economic Region.

• If you are a current Malheur County resident, you will receive 5% preference for this recruitment unless you opt out of receiving the preference.
  • A resident applicant who received preference and accepted the position must maintain residency in Malheur County for at least five consecutive years following the hire date.
  • Failure to maintain residency in Malheur County is considered a voluntary termination of employment from the position.
