Job summary

Description of Work

The primary purpose of this position is to supervise License Plate Agencies (LPAs) throughout North Carolina. This position will assist in the oversight of the operations of LPAs, investigate customer complaints, and counsel LPAs regarding errors and SOP and contract violations. The position assists with LPA investigations and represents the Division with regards subpoenas for court testimony as required. Work involves responsibility for analyzing and solving problems as they relate to License Plate Agency contracts, title and registrations laws, policies and procedures, and frequent public contacts in handling matters associated with those programs. Must have the ability to plan, prioritize, and manage workload independently and resolve issues in a timely manner. Work is performed under general supervision and is subject to review and evaluation through conferences, personal interactions, and written reports. This position will require occasional overnight travel.

Program area for this position includes one or more of the following

Experience in public and business administration, working knowledge of Chapter 20 and motor vehicle laws, and/or working knowledge of NC license plate agencies processes.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Grade and Salary Range: NC12 $47,703 - 83,479

Management prefers applicants with the following:

• Extensive knowledge of Chapter 20 and motor vehicle laws, policies, and procedures
• Demonstrated ability to exercise judgement and discretion in establishing, applying, and interpreting policies and procedures
• Experience in researching and resolving problems to make independent decisions as needed
• Experience in interpreting and explaining policy and procedures, rules, regulations, and/or laws to a diverse clientele using excellent communication skills
• Experience in maintaining records, reports, and data using MS office products and databases

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two (2) years of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
