Position Summary
This DMV Customer Service Representative position is located at the Eau Claire Customer Service Center and provides face-to-face customer support on driver licensing and vehicle registration. This includes issuing driver’s licenses, ID cards, instruction permits, motor vehicle registrations, vehicle titles, and license plates. This position determines and collects appropriate fees from customers. This position also works with customers who need to obtain an ID for voting purposes. In addition to in-person work, this position does some online processing of other types of work and may field questions from the public over the phone.
Salary Information
This position is in schedule-range 02-11. Starting pay is $21.66/hour, with a $1.40/hr increase after one year of satisfactory performance. Reclass to the Advanced level is typically after 18 months of service, and receives at least $25.32/hr. Saturday hours may be required. An additional $0.80/hr will be awarded for all Saturday hours. A 12-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be determined in accordance with the current State Compensation Plan.
WisDOT does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States. WisDOT is not an E-verify employer.
Prior to any appointments for position(s) filled from this announcement, candidates may be subject to a comprehensive criminal background check which may include FBI fingerprinting.
Possession of a valid driver license or obtaining one within 6 months of hire will be required for positions that train on or perform driver license examining. Positions performing these functions eventually have the potential to make no less than $27.37/hr after a period of time.
This position may be assigned to a team which requires the ability to travel regularly on an independent basis from a headquarters office to other cities during the work week, providing motor vehicle services to the public; or may be assigned to an office requiring only occasional travel on an independent basis, to local public or technical schools for example, to provide the services described.
This recruitment may be used to fill similar vacancies for the next 3 to 6 months.
