Job summary

The State of Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is seeking a part-time Motor Vehicle Examiner for the Customer Contact Center. This role handles inquiries about registrations and licenses via calls, emails and letters, explaining statutes and procedures to a diverse customer base.

The position is on-site, 34 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with a 8:00 AM–4:30 PM schedule. Join a fast-paced team dedicated to accurate information and quality service.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of clerical experience.
• One (1) year of general experience with face-to-face public interaction and telephone customer service.
• College training may be substituted for general experience (15-semester hours = 1/2 year, max 2 years).

Responsibilities

• Review and examine applications for licenses, vehicle registrations and titles to ensure complete and accurate information.
• Verify data such as insurance coverage, year, make, model, VIN, tax liability and suspension records.
• Prepare form letters advising of rejection or requesting additional information for corrections.
• Issues motor vehicle operator licenses containing applicant photo.
• Schedule appointments and balance cash and documents.
• Maintain records and research chain of ownership or lien information.
