The State of Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is now accepting applications for a part time Motor Vehicle Examiner position within the Customer Contact Center.
The Customer Contact Center is one of the first places customers reach out to for information. It is a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment that handles inbound calls and customer emails covering all aspects of the Department of Motor Vehicles. The team provides clear, complete, and accurate information based on agency statutes, regulations, and procedures.
The Motor Vehicle Examiner will handle inquiries through calls, emails, and letters related to obtaining registrations or licenses, as well as assisting customers with various appointments offered by the agency. You will research and resolve issues involving vehicle registrations, titles, and licenses, and communicate effectively to explain statutes, regulations, and procedures to a wide range of customers.
At the DMV, we are dedicated to protecting the health and safety of the motoring public through education, outreach and enforcement in the areas of vehicle weight and safety inspections, heavy duty diesel emission testing, traffic enforcement and investigations of any motor vehicle related complaints.

In the Department of Motor Vehicles central and branch offices this class is accountable for examining forms, applications and supporting documentation before granting issuance of a title, operator's license and/or registration.
Three (3) years of clerical experience.
One (1) year of the General Experience must have included clerical experience where a majority of the time involved face‑to‑face contact with the general public involving personal explanation or interpretation of products, policies or procedures or telephone customer service where the primary responsibility included providing information concerning or explaining programs/services or resolving problems.
College training may be substituted for General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of two (2) years.
In addition to the checking of references and of facts stated in the application, a thorough background investigation of each candidate may be made before individuals are certified for appointment.
