Job summary

St. John’s University is seeking an Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Operations to lead day-to-day management of 8 athletic facilities, oversee event operations, and coordinate with Public Safety, Facilities Services, and other departments.

This role ensures readiness for practices, competitions, and campus events. Responsibilities include scheduling, staff supervision of 80 event staffers, and collaboration with IT, Grounds, and Food Services to support 17 Division 1 sports teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 8-10 years related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong organization and interpersonal skills.
• Valid Driver's License and MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Manage game operations and ensure services meet coaches, student-athletes, visiting teams, officials, and fans.
• Schedule practices and events for 17 Division 1 sports teams with multi-location coordination.
• Oversee department staff including graduate assistants, interns, student workers, and event staffers (hiring, training, payroll).
• Maintain and upgrade electronic equipment (scoreboards, LED boards, clocks, sound equipment).
• Coordinate vehicle fleet logistics, driver approvals, maintenance, and cleanliness.
