Casella Waste Systems, Inc. is seeking a Market Area Controller to lead budgeting and accounting operations across multiple divisions and cost centers. This role focuses on ensuring accurate financial reporting, close processes, and regional financial integrity.

The candidate will drive adherence to GAAP and SOX controls, oversee statements and filings, and guide a team to meet operational and financial goals while partnering with regional leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field.
• 8–10 years of leadership experience in a management or supervisory role.
• Experience in an operational environment and willingness to travel quarterly.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes to ensure reports are entered and completed on time.
• Ensures GAAP compliance and SOX controls; assists in maintaining policy adherence.
• Oversees the preparation of financial statements and filings to align with GAAP guidelines.
• Measures cost and control through annual operating budgets to meet manufacturing needs.
• Develops, executes, and manages control systems for integrity and regional inventories.
• Leads accounting team with clear goals, coaching, and development opportunities.
• Performs ad hoc analyses to support decision making.
