South Middlesex Opportunity Council (SMOC) is seeking a Diversion Specialist in Framingham, MA. This full-time clerical role focuses on diversion conversations at assessments for individuals seeking emergency shelter and coordinating community resources.

The position involves maintaining HMIS records, networking with partners, and guiding clients through rental subsidies and housing processes. A valid driver’s license and 2+ years of case management are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years case management experience.
• Experience or training in Motivational Interviewing preferred.
• Excellent computer/data entry skills.
• Valid Driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct diversion problem solving conversations at assessments for individuals seeking emergency shelter.
• Coordinate referrals to community resources and assist with financial assistance eligibility.
• Maintain knowledge of Coordinated Access Network/Homeless Response System.
• Network with community partners to stay informed on basic needs resources.
• Maintain records in HMIS database.
• Attend Housing Case Management team meetings and professional development.
• Assist with landlord mediation and understanding rental subsidies and housing laws.
