Job summary

South Middlesex Opportunity Council (SMOC) in Framingham, MA is seeking a Housing Mobility Specialist for the SNO Mass program. You will administer mobility services for families using federal Section 8 vouchers, helping them find rental housing in higher-opportunity areas and guiding mobility counseling, landlord outreach, and post-move support.

The role includes coordinating housing searches, outreach to landlords, assisting with applications and referrals, and ensuring compliance with HUD/

Qualifications

• A 4 year degree in social work, public policy, or related fields required; MSW strongly preferred and 3+ years in social services/case management.
• Counseling and assessment skills.
• Familiarity with the region (transportation, schools, amenities).
• Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Develop, lead and deliver workshops and training to address housing barriers.
• Provide landlord support and recruitment.
• Assist families with housing applications and searches; tour units and negotiate with landlords.
• Recruit families within the Housing Choice Voucher program to participate in SNO Mass.
• Provide motivational counseling for voucher holders aiming for high-opportunity areas.
• Schedule and enroll participants according to procedures.
