Job summary

Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is seeking a Diverse Learners Teacher to collaborate with case managers, counselors, and general education teachers to support students with diverse needs and implement IEPs in alignment with Illinois guidelines.

The role emphasizes equity, strong classroom management, safe learning environments, and the use of technology to personalize learning, while complying with CPS policies and standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution.
• Completion of the CPS online application and teaching profile at cps.edu/teach.
• A valid teaching license issued by the Illinois State Board of Education with endorsements for the role.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate a deep understanding of content, pedagogy, and student knowledge to design objectives and coherent instruction.
• Create a respectful classroom culture with strong management and support for diverse learners.
• Design engaging instruction and appropriately challenging questions and assessments.
• Exhibit strong oral and written communication and professional judgment in interactions.
• Prioritize student safety and implement CPS discipline systems consistently.
• Personalize learning through curriculum resources and technology where available.
• Advocate for equity, diversity, and high expectations for all students.
