Job summary

Univar Solutions seeks a District Transportation Manager in Houston to lead private fleet operations, optimize routes, and manage a $7M P&L. You will negotiate with carriers, shape capacity planning, and drive efficient, cost-effective transportation across multiple sites.

The role requires 3–5 years in logistics, knowledge of HAZMAT/tanker operations, multi-modal transportation, and strong leadership. Located in Houston with about 25–50% travel, this position offers a comprehensive benefits

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in logistics or related field.
• 3–5 years of logistics/supply-chain experience.
• Experience with HAZMAT and tanker transportation preferred.
• Multi-modal transportation knowledge including TL/LTL and regulatory issues.
• Proven private fleet leadership and budgeting experience.
• Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
• SAP knowledge and DOT regulations familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Directly manage the district's private fleet and optimize costs across locations.
• Develop and lead route plans to reduce costs per mile.
• Negotiate truckload rates with carriers to control expenses.
• Oversee capacity planning and carrier relationships.
• Ensure on-time delivery and budget adherence.
• Collaborate with operations and commercial leaders on capacity forecasting.
• Support annual procurement bid and carrier diversification.
