Job summary

Univar Solutions in California is seeking a District Transportation Manager to lead the private fleet, optimize routes, and manage a ~ $7M P&L across multiple sites. You will collaborate with commercial and operations leaders to ensure on-time, cost-effective transportation and capacity planning.

The role requires 3–5 years in logistics, knowledge of SAP/SAPTM, DOT regulations, and strong negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree/MBA strongly preferred.
• 3-5 years of logistics/supply-chain experience.
• HAZMAT and tanker transportation operations experience desired.
• Experience in distribution environment.
• Multi-modal transportation including TL and LTL; regulatory and operational knowledge.
• Leadership of private fleets with demonstrated efficiency.
• Budgeting (P&L) experience.
• In-depth SAP and SAPTM knowledge.
• Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; strong interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and negotiating skills.
• Leadership across regions, departments, and vendors.
• Ability to lead process and organizational change; engage stakeholders.
• 75% Travel is required.

Responsibilities

• Directly oversee private fleet dispatch optimization across multiple locations.
• Develop and lead route plans to reduce cost per mile and improve on-time performance.
• Manage lane sourcing strategy between private, common, and dedicated fleets.
• Oversee capacity planning for near-, mid-, and long-term transportation needs.
• Provide guidance on asset utilization and capital replacement strategies.
• Own transportation budget and drive cost savings to meet the Annual Operating Plan.
