Job summary

AMH is seeking a District Manager to lead daily operations across a residential portfolio in the assigned market. The role includes mentoring the local district team, aligning goals with company strategy, and acting as a liaison to unify Property Operations, Leasing, New Development and other support functions.

The candidate will drive occupancy, profitability, and asset quality while managing budgets, performance metrics, and cross-functional collaboration to achieve district objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in real estate, finance, business management or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of five (5) years of general management experience with 8+ direct reports.
• Experience in Property Operations, Real Estate, or Property Management is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Execute the strategic vision for the operation and enhance profitability of the district.
• Assess assets for quality, marketability, performance, and fit; recommend acquisitions/dispositions.
• Oversee the team; coach and develop employees and provide feedback.
• Monitor rent collection, customer service, leasing, maintenance, and budgeting; collaborate with partners.
• Ensure properties meet quality standards; recommend improvements or dispositions.
• Analyze monthly financials to increase profitability and aid in process improvements.
• Handle special-case properties including evictions or legal considerations.
• Implement resident retention programs and evaluate their effectiveness.
