Job summary

RSU 54 is seeking a District Wide Maintenance Person to oversee buildings, grounds and fleet maintenance year-round. The role requires a valid commercial license with school bus endorsement and the ability to operate heavy equipment, HVAC systems and safety inspections.

The position emphasizes safeguarding student safety, timely project completion, and coordination with the Support Services Manager/Transportation Director.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or HiSET required.
• Valid commercial license with school bus endorsement and clean driving record.
• Knowledge of carpentry, electrical, and plumbing equipment and methods.
• Excellent carpentry skills including finish and cabinetry work.
• Experience supervising others.
• Comply with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
• Ability to complete projects in a timely manner.
• Certifications as determined by management.
• Must lift at least 50 pounds and assist an injured student off the bus if needed.
• Other qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Board.

Responsibilities

• Examine and perform maintenance and repair of RSU 54 buildings, facilities, equipment, grounds and parking areas; perform regular preventive maintenance.
• Will be required to have a bus driver’s license and drive as assigned.
• Order materials as needed and advise on supplies and equipment for purchase.
• Operate and maintain tractors, mowers, snow removal equipment, and other maintenance equipment.
• Mow and repair sports fields and prepare fields for games.
• Train for asbestos inspection and report preparation.
• Perform state-required water tests and OSHA and fire inspections.
• Repair cleaning equipment and maintain HVAC systems.
• General school building maintenance and repairs, including door and window hardware.
• Maintain a regular schedule, attendance and punctuality.
• Demonstrate professional conduct and confidentiality; follow proper channels of command.
• Perform other related duties as deemed necessary by the Support Services Manager.
