Job summary

RSU 40/MSAD 40 SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking a Custodian to perform cleaning and maintenance in school buildings and grounds under the supervision of the Principal, Director of Facilities, and Business Manager. Responsibilities include cleaning rooms, restrooms, halls, and performing basic upkeep to keep facilities safe and presentable.

The role requires ability to operate cleaning equipment, assist with events, and support snow removal and deliveries.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in building/cleaning maintenance desirable.
• State Motor Vehicle Operator's license or ability to provide own transportation.

Responsibilities

• Check and secure building at the start and end of shift to ensure safety and cleanliness.
• Clean rooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, and other areas per district standards.
• Sweep, mop, buff, strip, and wax floors.
• Clean rugs, carpets, upholstery, blinds; wash walls, ceilings, windows, doors, sills.
• Replace light bulbs and perform minor repairs as needed.
• Set up and break down chairs, tables and equipment for meetings and events.
• Perform grounds-keeping tasks and snow/ice removal.
• Receive deliveries and assist in unloading/loading and stocking supplies.
• Empties wastebaskets and supports recycling program.
