Job summary

Truckee Sanitary District is seeking a District Engineer to lead the Engineering Department and manage the Capital Improvement Program for wastewater and related infrastructure in the Truckee area.

The District Engineer will supervise professional, technical, and administrative staff, oversee reviews and inspections of development, and ensure compliance with District standards to protect public health and the environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
  • Five years of professional engineering experience in water/wastewater.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Engineering Department and Capital Improvement Program.
  • Review, permit, and inspect development to ensure compliance with District standards.

Truckee Sanitary District (TSD), formed in 1906, is an award-winning public agency responsible for the collection and conveyance of wastewater for the rapidly growing mountain community of Truckee, California, located just 15 minutes from Lake Tahoe.

The District owns and operates over 200 miles of sewer mains, 13,000 laterals, 44 pump stations, 4 buildings, and a fleet of over 40 vehicles and equipment. TSD’s workplace culture is grounded in five core values: Safety, Teamwork, Integrity, Communication, and Service.

Ideal Candidate
\

TSD is seeking a highly qualified individual to join its leadership team in the position of District Engineer. The ideal candidate will be an experienced engineer, asset manager, and leader motivated to strategically lead the Engineering Department in support of the District’s mission to protect public health and the environment in the Truckee area.

\

The District Engineer supervises professional, technical, and administrative staff and manages the District’s Capital Improvement Program, including the planning, design, and construction of infrastructure projects. This position is also responsible for overseeing the review, permitting, and inspection of residential, commercial, and industrial development within the District’s boundaries to ensure they are installed in compliance with District standards.

Qualifications
\

Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in civil engineering or related engineering field and five (5) years of professional engineering in the water/wastewater industry including three (3) years in a supervisory or management position.

Licenses
\

Must possess California State Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer Possess a valid California (or Nevada) Class C driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record (desirable)
