Truckee Sanitary District is looking for a highly qualified District Engineer to join its leadership team. The role involves planning and directing engineering activities and managing the District's Capital Improvement Program. Truckee Sanitary District (TSD), formed in 1906, is an award-winning public agency responsible for the collection and conveyance of wastewater for the rapidly growing mountain community of Truckee, California, located just 15 minutes from Lake Tahoe.
The District owns and operates over 200 miles of sewer mains, 13,000 laterals, 44 pump stations, 4 buildings, and a fleet of over 40 vehicles and equipment. TSD’s workplace culture is grounded in five core values: Safety, Teamwork, Integrity, Communication, and Service.
Under the administrative direction, the position plans, organizes, directs, and reviews the activities and operations of the Engineering Department, including Information Systems, capital project planning, environmental planning, design, construction and permitting programs. This role coordinates with other departments, and outside agencies, ensures compliance with technical specifications, provides complex technical support to the General Manager, and performs other duties as assigned.
TSD is seeking a highly qualified individual to join its leadership team in the position of District Engineer. The ideal candidate will be an experienced engineer, asset manager, and leader motivated to strategically lead the Engineering Department in support of the District’s mission to protect public health and the environment in the Truckee area.
The District Engineer supervises professional, technical, and administrative staff and manages the District’s Capital Improvement Program, including the planning, design, and construction of infrastructure projects. This position is also responsible for overseeing the review, permitting, and inspection of residential, commercial, and industrial development within the District’s boundaries to ensure they are installed in compliance with District standards.
