Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teaching certification with a minimum of three years of successful teaching in a public or private school setting and Special Education endorsement.
  • Proficiency in utilizing the district software and technology to create documents, analyze data, and write reports from the data, etc..
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral formats.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details required to meet the goals of the position.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, work ethic, and a collaborative work style.
  • Knowledge of state and federal special education laws.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance and training to district personnel related to curriculum, program expectations, and research-based interventions in support of quality instruction for students receiving BHS program services.
  • Create professional development materials to support the implementation of district and state initiatives to improve student achievement.
  • Monitor inquiries regarding behavior management and professional development through the district’s communication platform and forward these inquiries to the appropriate BHS personnel.
  • Collaborate with various special education program personnel to improve effectiveness of behavior management classroom consistency across the district.
  • Disseminate information and provide training for district staff, parents, and community groups on behavior-related topics such as behavior intervention plans, data collection methods, progress monitoring, and evidence-based practices.
  • Monitor the implementation and effectiveness of program services and interventions in the classrooms of students receiving BHS services.
  • Distribute and retrieve special education materials based on inventory documentation.
  • Serve as a Behavior Instructional Specialist as needed to augment the BHS staff.
  • Confer regularly with the Supervisor to discuss trends and patterns that may suggest the need for revised procedures or practices.
  • Manage all data and create reports as needed by the Supervisor.
  • Report any barriers or roadblocks to effective behavior services to the Supervisor and participate in the development of strategies to remedy these issues.
  • Maintain accurate case records and required accountability documentation, which will be monitored by the Supervisor.
  • Attend professional development in special education, coaching, leadership, and any other behavior-related topics to remain up-to-date on current research regarding emotional and behavioral disorders, autism, learning differences, trauma, technology tools, social skills curriculum, etc..
  • Comply with all state and federal rules, laws, and guidelines related to special education.
  • Engage in professional behaviors that reflect integrity, accountability, and moral standards.
  • Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.
