Job summary

Leidos is seeking an Associate Distribution Engineer/Designer to develop design and construction work packages for electrical distribution systems for utility clients. You will perform structural pole and conductor calculations, support field data collection, and coordinate with utilities to resolve conflicts in dense urban environments.

The role offers remote-working capabilities with preference for candidates near Pittsburgh, PA, and may involve local travel.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial preferred.
0+ years of experience in distribution engineering or related field.
Experience with NESC, ESRI, AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, and GIS is a plus.

Responsibilities

Independently develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems for Leidos electric utility customers.
Review client work and assess scope requirements; perform engineering calculations (pole loading, guying, conductor sag/tension, voltage drop).
Provide engineering support during construction and post-construction review to ensure standards are met.
Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design.
Coordinate with utilities and field requirements for large design packages in dense urban environments; manage permits, easements, ROW.
