Job summary

Leidos is seeking Distribution Engineers & Designers in New Jersey who will develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems for utility customers. You will review client scopes, perform engineering calculations, and support construction to ensure standards are met.

The role requires 2+ years of relevant experience, a Bachelor's degree in a technical field, and willingness to travel within New Jersey.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant experience in distribution engineering/design
• Bachelor's Degree (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial) or equivalent experience
• Experience with execution of distribution projects from kickoff through design approval and client interaction
• Experience with utility reliability projects and NESC proficiency
• Valid U.S. driver’s license; ability to travel to local/regional sites
• Willingness for field and office work and occasional outdoor environments

Responsibilities

• Independently develop design and construction work packages for electrical distribution systems
• Review client-provided work and assess scope requirements
• Perform engineering calculations (pole loading, guying, conductor sag/tension, voltage drop, flicker)
• Provide engineering support during construction and post-construction reviews
• Coordinate with utilities and manage large design packages in urban environments
• Assist with permits, easements, and ROW applications
