Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp. is seeking an Underground Network Engineer to design and support underground distribution, network, and sub transmission facilities.

The role requires self-direction, ability to manage engineering designs, and collaboration with field crews, contract teams, and regional offices in Ohio. The candidate will develop conduit and duct designs, coordinate with utilities and rail/road authorities, and contribute to budget and schedule planning while maintaining safety standards across

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (electrical, mechanical or civil) from an ABET accredited school.
• PE license or FE certificate is a plus.
• Understanding of electrical engineering and utility power system concepts.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and review underground distribution conduit systems and cable exits.
• Develop underground cable designs and prepare junctions with GIS data.
• Coordinate with third parties (NSRR, CSX, GCRTA, ODOT) for jackbore and route planning.
• Prepare CAD drawings of duct systems and manhole layouts.
• Support storm restoration, budgeting, and schedule/cost estimates.
