Burns & McDonnell in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking an Assistant Distribution Engineer to support project teams under a licensed professional engineer. You will assist with design and development of 2.4kV to 34.5kV overhead and underground distribution projects throughout the design and construction process.

You will prepare voltage packages, sketches, BOMs, and cost estimates; perform distribution calculations; assist with field inspections; and contribute to client presentations and reports while

Competenze

• Bachelor degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering (accredited).
• Or bachelor degree in Engineering/Engineering Technology with FE exam.
• ABET accreditation preferred.
• Prior internship or related consulting experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of electrical distribution power flow.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative environment.
• Proficient computer skills (MS Office).
• Basic distribution design software experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• EIT certification preferred.

Mansioni

• Assist in the design of distribution projects from concept through design completion.
• Prepare distribution voltage packages for overhead and underground projects.
• Prepare design sketches, cost estimates, BOMs, and other deliverables.
• Perform distribution calculations (cable pulling, voltage drop, pole loading).
• Apply NESC and utility standards, guides, and procedures.
• Assist with field inspections for overhead/underground facilities.
• Compile project data for managers and prepare client communications.
• Assist with vegetation management, right-of-way, and outage planning.
• Support client presentations, reports, and visualizations.
