Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Staff Substation Engineer in Ohio to develop design deliverables for high-voltage substations. You will support projects from concept through construction, preparing design packages, calculations, and equipment specifications while collaborating with the project team to meet schedules and QA/QC standards.

The role requires ABET-accredited engineering, 3 years substation experience, and strong communication. EIT/FE certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree and 3 years substation experience
• ABET-accredited BSET with FE exam and 3 years substation experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication; analytical skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

• Support substation projects from conceptual phase to completion
• Prepare design packages including arrangement, relaying, studies, lighting and security
• Develop substation calculations: insulation, grounding, DC/battery sizing, voltage drop, cable sizing
• Prepare estimates, BOM, equipment specs
• Assist field inspections and client presentations
• Meet QA/QC and project schedules
• Support proposals and client communications
