Distribution Center Manager - Great Lakes
Job Summary:
This position is located at our Chicago area location and is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and operation of the location.
Specific duties and Responsibilities:
- Promote a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. Ensure all employees are aware of all safety rules and regulations. Ensure all employees adhere to the mandated PPE policies.
- Ensure Facility Excellence by developing process and procedures in conjunction with Branch Operations criteria.
- Day to day supervision and operation of branch.
- Hiring, professional development and training of Branch personnel.
- Participate in the establishment of satisfactory inventory levels in pursuant of company goals.
- Ensure the development of systems and adherence to procedures for operating and managing physical facilities, human resources, and equipment in a profitable manner.
- Plan, direct and implement warehouse operations and administrative support to meet company service goals.
- Security and maintenance of grounds, building and all warehouse and office equipment.
- Develop and recommend annual operating budgets in coordination with North American Branch operations Manager.
- Ensure 5S and FEM practices are in place and adhered to.
- Ensure employees are meeting / exceeding their expected efficiency goals and objectives
- Work with Logistics group to ensure optimal customer service while limiting the overall total of carriers.
- Assist in the establishment of customer service standards and communicate these to all employees.
- Ensure all employees adhere to the company established code of ethics.
- Ensure Supply Assurance, Value Creation, Process Excellence and Talent Management are the foundation for all operational activities.
- Adhere to and promote the Victaulic Leadership Values.
Qualifications (education, experience, personal attributes):
- Four Year College Degree.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in supervising warehouse and /or branch operations.
- Experience in Lean manufacturing concepts and practices.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks
- Proven leadership and motivation skills required.
- Self- motivated.
- Knowledge of inventory management systems.
- Willing to make infrequent overnight travel.
