Job summary

Ameren Illinois is seeking an Engineer to lead reliability improvement and Advanced Distribution Automation initiatives in Illinois. The role focuses on designing and maintaining the Volt-Var Optimization program, integrating DERs, and guiding Illinois Distribution Control and engineering staff.

Qualified candidates have a BS in Engineering (Electrical preferred) with FE or PE preferred, strong organizational and communication skills, and experience in analytics, SCADA, and distribution

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering required; Electrical preferred.
• FE certification (Fundamentals of Engineering) or PE registration preferred.
• Engineering experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain the Volt-Var Optimization (VVO) program for Ameren Illinois.
• Support the integration of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) into the distribution electric operations system for reliability and economics.
• Provide support, technical expertise and guidance to Illinois Distribution Control staff and Division engineering staff.
• Offer expertise in data analysis, outage management, SCADA, distribution automation, circuit coordination, and post‑disturbance analysis.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to drive performance improvements and oversee turn-key distribution automation projects.
• Provide analysis and recommendations to maximize reliability with Illinois budget allocations.
• Contribute to long‑term plans for overall reliability improvement within Illinois.
• Support Ameren Illinois Emergency Operations Center during significant events.
• Provide on‑call support for software systems; occasional site visits may be required.
