Job summary

Ameren Illinois is seeking an Engineer to identify, stratify, and implement reliability improvements and Advanced Distribution Automation in Illinois. You’ll design and maintain the Volt-Var Optimization program, support DER integration, and advise control staff and engineers while working within a collaborative team.

The role emphasizes data analysis, outage management, and DA expertise to drive performance and reliability across Illinois operations. Office-based with periodic site visits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited college; Electrical preferred.
• FE or P.E. certification/registration preferred; engineering experience beneficial.
• Strong teamwork, organization, and communication required.
• Proficient in MS Office and data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain the Volt-Var Optimization (VVO) program for Ameren Illinois.
• Support DER integration into the distribution operations system for reliability and economics.
• Provide guidance to Illinois Distribution Control staff and division engineers.
• Apply data analysis, outage management, SCADA, and distribution automation expertise.
• Collaborate with stakeholders on reliability projects and lead DA turn-key oversight.
• Analyze budget allocations to maximize reliability outcomes; plan long-term improvements.
• Support Ameren Illinois Emergency Operations Center during significant events.
• Provide on-call support for software systems in Distribution Control and DA areas.
