Job Responsibilities:
- Function as the department Dispatcher, to include: emergency and non-emergency communications, operator, radio communication and monitoring, police dispatch, and civilian personnel dispatch.
Dispatcher Duties (50%):
- Receives emergency and non-emergency requests by telephone, radio, and in person.
- Monitors radio communication on multiple frequencies and responds promptly and appropriately to radio traffic.
- Coordinates and dispatches Law Enforcement, Fire, Safety, Emergency aid personnel, and other resources to respond to calls and alarms.
- Utilizes Computer-Assisted Dispatch system (CAD) for police reports, assigning officers, tracking calls, and documenting actions taken during incidents.
- Operates a multiple line telephone system including Telephony (TTY).
- Dispatches Safe Team, Parking Enforcement, and other personnel as needed.
Dispatch Office Manager Duties (20%):
- Knowledgeable of department and university policy and procedures, responding tactfully to inquiries from the public, staff, or other agencies on sensitive issues.
- Issues keys to authorized personnel and maintains records for key check-in/check-out procedures.
- Prepares lost and recovered property reports as needed.
- Acts as point of contact for disseminating information to Law Enforcement agencies and the public.
- Serves as receptionist for Public Safety and University inquiries, directing them to responsible offices on campus.
- Monitors security and fire alarm systems.
- Knowledgeable of campus and Warrensburg to direct law enforcement personnel and the public to various locations.
- Coordinates with vendors and campus resources to maintain equipment within the department.
- Monitors the campus video security system.
Information and Data Retrieval Specialist Duties (20%):
- Inputs and retrieves information into Missouri Uniform Law Enforcement System (MULES), linking to other databases.
- Knowledgeable of technology changes and familiar with program capabilities for retrieving information in emergencies.
Mass Communications Operator Duties (10%):
- Initiates emergency siren and alerting systems as necessary.
- Sends mass text messages and emails as required.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience: 1 year police dispatch experience preferred.
- MULES certification preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Lifting (weight) - 20 lbs.
- Sitting for long periods of time.
