Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital in Dover, Ohio, is seeking a Dispatcher to protect patients, visitors and staff by coordinating the Security Dispatch Office activities and responding to incidents. You will receive calls, dispatch personnel, monitor CCTV, and follow emergency procedures.

A high school diploma and computer skills are required; previous security/dispatch experience is preferred. Follows standard precautions; pays $15.25–$19.60 per hour with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma, computer software proficiency, and typing/data entry skills.
• Must have a clear speaking voice over a security radio system and the ability to dispatch personnel in escalating situations.
• Visual acuity to monitor security screens and respond to incidents.
• Experience with access control systems or CCTV is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Receive calls and requests for service and formulate correct responses.
• Regulate radio traffic by dispatching calls and relaying information.
• Answer questions and give directions to visitors, caregivers and patients.
• Monitor hospital activity on CCTV to detect escalating situations and respond appropriately.
• Implement emergency procedures (fire, disaster, infant abduction, tornado, bomb threat) as directed.
• Maintain dispatch/log/helipad/equipment logs and document incidents.

Dispatchers are responsible for protecting patients, visitors, caregivers and hospital property by coordinating and addressing the Security Dispatch Office activities and responsibilities.

A caregiver in this position works Week 1: Monday 6:00am-6:00pm, Tuesday 2:00pm-10:00pm, Wednesday 2:00pm-10:00pm, and Saturday 6:00am-6:00pm. Week 2: Sunday 6:00am-6:00pm, Tuesday 2:00pm-10:00pm, Wednesday 2:00pm-10:00pm, and Friday 6:00am-6:00pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Receive calls and requests for service and formulate correct responses.
• Regulate radio traffic by dispatching calls and relaying information.
• Answer questions and give directions to visitors, caregivers and patients.
• Monitor hospital activity on closed circuit television to be alerted to any escalating situations or unusual activity that may require Security involvement and responds appropriately.
• Implement procedures for emergency situations such as fire, disaster, infant abduction, tornado, bomb threat, etc. as indicated in the Security Department Facility Orders and the M.C.I. Manual.
• Complete appropriate and accurate documentation for dispatch logs, equipment logs, helipad logs, lost and recovered property, patient valuables, occurrence reports, etc.
• Maintain knowledge of operation of access control systems.
• Maintain knowledge of all alarm systems and appropriate responses.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High school graduate

• Visual acuity to monitor security screens continuously

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Previous security and/or dispatch experience

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $15.25

Maximum hourly: $19.60
