Job summary

Coastal Waste & Recycling is seeking a hands-on Dispatch Manager to lead a team, keep daily dispatch operations running smoothly, and deliver exceptional service to municipal and private customers. You’ll work with the District Manager and Operations to optimize staffing, equipment, and routes while upholding safety and performance standards.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of dispatch/ logistics experience.
• Previous supervisory experience with hiring, coaching, and developing employees.
• Strong knowledge of dispatch operations, route coordination, and service delivery.
• Experience monitoring productivity metrics and driving improvements.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

As our Dispatch Manager, you'll work closely with the District Manager and Operations team to oversee daily dispatch activities, manage route performance, and build strong relationships with municipal customers.

What You'll Do

• Lead, hire, train, coach, and develop a team of Dispatchers, establishing clear performance expectations and accountability.
• Oversee daily dispatch operations, ensuring routes are properly assigned, monitored, and completed on schedule.
• Partner with the District Manager and Operations team to coordinate staffing, equipment availability, and daily route coverage.
• Establish and implement dispatch procedures, communication protocols, and service standards to improve operational efficiency.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with municipal contacts, providing proactive service updates and timely resolution of concerns.
• Monitor route productivity, completion rates, missed stops, and service performance to ensure operational goals are met or exceeded.
• Resolve operational challenges, including route delays, staffing shortages, service interruptions, and escalated customer concerns.
• Collaborate with Customer Service and Operations to coordinate route changes, customer requests, and service improvements.
• Analyze dispatch performance and operational data to identify opportunities to improve productivity and service delivery.
• Ensure accurate dispatch records, route documentation, and updates within company systems.

What We're Looking For

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in dispatch, transportation, logistics, or route-based operations.
• Previous supervisory experience with demonstrated success hiring, coaching, training, and developing employees.
• Strong understanding of dispatch operations, route coordination, and service delivery.
• Experience monitoring productivity metrics and driving operational improvements.
• Ability to establish effective processes, communication standards, and performance expectations.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

What Will Set You Apart

• Experience managing dispatch operations in the waste and recycling industry.
• Experience working with municipal contracts and maintaining relationships with municipal representatives.
• Familiarity with TRUX or similar dispatch and route management systems.
• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Transportation, or a related field.
• Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Haitian Creole.
