Job summary

Leidos, a leading defense, intelligence, and technology company, offers a Summer 2027 Internship Program for aspiring engineers. As a Transport Network Engineer Intern, you will join the GSM-O II contract at Scott AFB, IL, gaining hands-on experience with the DISN transport infrastructure.

You will learn to troubleshoot optical platforms, monitor traffic, and assist in fault isolation across SONET, DWDM, and TDM, while documenting work in ServiceNow ITSM and supporting ASI activities.

Qualifications

• Foundational understanding of TCP/IP and OSI model.
• Strong analytical problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Collaborative team player with good written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior engineers in design, development, and modification of network management systems.
• Support deployment of new network hardware on operational nodes.
• Learn to monitor changes, analyze traffic, and assess impacts on network stability.
• Assist fault isolation and troubleshooting across transport platforms (SONET, DWDM, TDM).
• Develop documentation in ServiceNow ITSM.
• Support ASI activities by collecting site and device data for maintenance scheduling.
