Job summary

Leidos Inc. is seeking motivated engineering students for the Summer 2027 Internship Program as a Transport Network Engineer Intern at Scott AFB, IL. Starts May 2027 and offers hands-on experience with DISN transport layers under DISA in GSM-O II.

You will assist in design, deployment, monitoring, fault isolation, and documentation while pursuing a degree in a related field. This onsite opportunity requires U.S. citizenship and DoD clearance eligibility.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizen eligible to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.
• Pursuing degree in Network Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
• Foundational networking knowledge (TCP/IP, OSI) and interest in optical transport systems.
• Analytical, detail-oriented, proactive problem solving.
• Strong written and verbal communication; teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior engineers in the design, development, and modification of network management systems.
• Support deployment of new network hardware on operational nodes.
• Monitor network changes, analyze traffic, and assess impacts on stability.
• Assist in fault isolation and troubleshooting across transport platforms (SONET, DWDM, TDM).
• Maintain documentation in ServiceNow ITSM.
• Support ASI activities by collecting site and device data for maintenance.
