Job summary

Leidos, a leading defense, intelligence, and technology company, seeks motivated STEM students for its Summer 2027 Internship Program. As a Network Engineering & Operations Intern, you will be embedded with DISN-focused teams at Scott AFB, IL, gaining hands-on experience on live networks.

You will shadow senior engineers, learn change management, analyze network data, and contribute to real service activations, with on-site work and exposure to mission-critical communications.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance.
• Pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, IT or related field.
• Foundational understanding of basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and the OSI model.
• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and proactive problem-solving.
• Teamwork with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Location: on-site at Scott AFB, Illinois; no telework.

Responsibilities

• Shadow and assist senior engineers with customer coordination, network testing, and new service activations.
• Learn Change Management: how TSOs are managed.
• Learn to analyze network databases to validate customer requirements.
• Assist in monitoring network health after scheduled changes.
• Collaborate with a team of engineers to translate problems into solutions.
• Understand how DISA organizations work together to fulfill mission partner requirements.
