Job summary

Yoh is seeking a Disaster Program Specialist (Driving) for a 3-month contract with a nonprofit client in Columbia, SC. The role oversees disaster preparedness, response, and recovery across a multi-county territory, leading a volunteer-driven operation and coordinating with emergency management and partner organizations.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in disaster services, emergency management, public safety, nonprofit program management, military, EMS, or a related field.
• Experience leading, supervising, or coordinating volunteers, teams, or community-based programs.
• Proven ability to respond to emergencies, manage multiple priorities, and make decisions in fast-paced situations.

Responsibilities

• Lead disaster preparedness, response, and recovery programs across an assigned territory.
• Manage and develop a primarily volunteer workforce, including recruiting, training, coaching, and leadership development.
• Serve as the local operational lead during disaster incidents and emergency response activities.
• Build and maintain partnerships with Emergency Management, government agencies, community organizations, VOADs, and other stakeholders.
• Coordinate community resources, shelters, vendors, and volunteers to support disaster operations and client needs.
• Participate in emergency planning, training exercises, and disaster readiness initiatives with local and regional partners.
• Respond to disaster incidents as needed, including travel within the territory using American Red Cross vehicles to support response and mass care activities.
