Job summary

Yoh is seeking a Disaster Program Specialist (Driving) for a 3-month contract in Columbia, SC. The role involves leading disaster preparedness, response, and recovery programs across a multi-county territory, with a focus on managing volunteers and partnerships.

You will be the local operational lead during incidents, traveling as needed and supporting mass care activities with Red Cross vehicles. Flexible hours include nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in emergency management, disaster services, or related field.
• Experience leading volunteers and coordinating community programs.
• Strong ability to respond to emergencies and manage multiple priorities.
• Willingness to travel multi-county territory.
• Valid driver's license; able to work nights/weekends/on-call.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate disaster preparedness, response, and recovery programs across an assigned territory.
• Manage and develop a primarily volunteer workforce, including recruiting, training, coaching, and leadership development.
• Serve as the local operational lead during disaster incidents and emergency response activities.
• Build and maintain partnerships with EM, government agencies, VOADs, and other stakeholders.
• Coordinate community resources, shelters, vendors, and volunteers to support disaster operations and client needs.
• Participate in emergency planning, training exercises, and disaster readiness initiatives with local and regional partners.
• Respond to disaster incidents as needed, including travel within the territory using American Red Cross vehicles to support response and mass care activities.
