Job summary

The NYS Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services is seeking an experienced program administrator to oversee federal disaster assistance grants in the Hazard Mitigation Unit. You will work with state and local partners to advance DRP objectives and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

This role requires several years of grant management experience, the ability to interpret complex policies, and strong leadership of staff.

Qualifications

• Seven years of experience administering federal, state, or locally funded grant programs.
• Experience with disaster mitigation or recovery project funding and grant processing.
• Knowledge of federal regulations and FEMA programs.
• Telecommuting eligibility per agency guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Provide management oversight for federal disaster assistance grants to mitigate infrastructure and implement mitigation measures.
• Advise DHSES leadership on DRP objectives, strategies, rules, and regulations.
• Prepare comprehensive written and verbal reports and analyses for DHSES and State leadership.
• Monitor FEMA program deadlines and coordinate with FEMA regions and state staff.
• Direct the preparation of grant applications and supplemental information for FEMA assistance.
• Supervise staff and manage special projects; travel may be required.
