Job summary

Catholic Charities in Asheville, NC seeks a Disaster Case Manager to provide comprehensive case management to individuals and families affected by disasters, assessing needs, connecting to FEMA, housing, food, and mental health resources, and guiding recovery efforts.

This limited-duration, on-site role requires strong communication, coordination with partner organizations, thorough documentation, and travel as needed to support participants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university preferred; additional experience beyond the required may be accepted in lieu of a college degree.
• Intermediate computer and technology skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to prepare correspondence, records and reports.
• Fluency in English is required; Spanish proficiency may be helpful.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake interviews and assess participant needs; provide advocacy and referrals.
• Link clients to recovery programs and community organizations (FEMA, housing, food banks, mental health).
• Verify eligibility and assist with applications for relief programs.
• Collaborate with disaster response agencies and partners for coordinated services.
• Provide ongoing case coordination; develop case plans; conduct home visits as needed.
• Prepare reports and maintain participant records and documentation.
• Maintain relationships with staff and external resources to coordinate services.
• Develop collaborations with schools, parishes, and community networks.
• Participate in trainings, staff meetings, and events.
• Represent the program in the community; respond to inquiries and present services.
• Engage in Strategic Planning and Quality Improvement processes.
• Coordinate enrichment opportunities and events for participants.
