Job summary

CDM Smith seeks a Disaster Engineering Specialist to perform site inspections, document infrastructure damage with photos and sketches, and develop scopes of work and cost estimates in line with code requirements.

You will review engineering reports and as‑built plans, evaluate hazard mitigation proposals, and communicate final determinations to applicants while coordinating with FEMA and project teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• 5 years in-field experience or 2 years in-field with professional registration.
• Domestic travel is required.

Responsibilities

• Conducts site inspections to validate and record infrastructure damage, including photos, sketches and damage descriptions.
• Reviews and analyzes engineering reports, designs, and as‑built plans.
• Makes recommendations regarding claim eligibility and hazard mitigation proposals; coordinates with applicants through program delivery and recovery stages.
• Provides analyses and updates reports; participates in status update meetings with FEMA; identifies need for technical specialists.
• May coordinate basic to moderately complex site inspections to support FEMA Public Assistance delivery.
