Job summary

Wake Technical Community College is seeking an Assistant Director of Disability Support Services at the Southern Wake Campus. The role oversees DSS operations, supervises multiple coordinators and support staff, and acts as the primary contact for students, parents, faculty and staff.

The position requires a Master’s degree in a related field, at least two years of experience with students with disabilities, and supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Disabilities, Special Education, Psychology, Rehabilitation, Counseling, Assistive Technology, or related field.
• Minimum two years experience with high school or college students with disabilities.
• Supervisory experience required.
• Working knowledge of various disabilities and related accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Assist the director with development and implementation of institutional effectiveness goals.
• Provide direct supervision for Learning Disability Specialists, DSS Coordinators, and DSS staff.
• Serve as first contact for inquiries from students, parents, faculty and staff.
• Review student documentation for completeness and coordinate additional documentation needs.
• Advocate for student needs with faculty and staff; promote self-advocacy.
• Assign incoming students to DSS Coordinators based on disability documentation.
• Stay current on technology, laws, services, and philosophy related to disabilities.
• Lead DSS orientation workshops.
• Serve as a resource on college committees and assist DSS Coordinators as needed.
