Job summary

Hebrew Educational Society in Brooklyn, NY seeks an Assistant Director of Disability Services to oversee daily operations and staff development for programs serving individuals with disabilities. The role collaborates with the Director on service plans, billing, schedules, and activities, ensuring quality across all OPWDD-based programs.

The candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree related to psychology or special education and 2–3 years of relevant experience, with some Sundays/evenings

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work or Special Education preferred.
  • A minimum of 2–3 years of experience with persons with disabilities, including ASD.
  • Some Sundays and evenings are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise and mentor others.
  • Good organizational, interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Passion for working as a member of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Disability Services with day-to-day operations of all programs.
  • Facilitate hands-on training for staff delivering services to children with disabilities.
  • Collaborate on developing and monitoring program billing, service plans, schedules, and activities for children with disabilities.
  • Complete monthly note reports for OPWDD-based programs and participate in life plan meetings.
  • Implement best practices and pursue excellence in services for individuals with disabilities.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents, staff and colleagues.
  • Collaborate with management and staff to meet agency goals and participate in interdepartmental projects.
  • Be flexible to take on additional duties as assigned.
